HEARING AID CIRCUITRY
Choosing a hearing aid circuit is the most important decision in selecting a hearing aid, because the circuit is responsible for how sounds will be amplified. This decision is based on the specific problems the patient is experiencing, as well as their degree of hearing loss. Circuitry comes in two types: analog and digital.
Analog circuits are traditional circuits that utilize filtering systems to amplify sound. Sound waves enter the microphone and are amplified, filtered, then transmitted to the ear. Some analog circuits are digitally programmable with a computer, providing some flexibility to meet listeners needs.
Fully digital circuitry is the most recent advancement in hearing technology. This circuit takes the processing power of a desktop computer and places it inside a hearing aid. The result is an automatic circuit that is capable of making millions of calculations every second. This circuit is programmed with a computer to meet the patients hearing needs. Some digital hearing aids have multiple programs which can be adjusted for various listening environments.

EARPLUGS:
HEARING PROTECTION: Sierra Hearing Center offers a complete line of custom hearing protection including musicians earplugs. Custom earplugs reduce overall noise levels. Some styles have filtering systems, which allow the wearer to hear conversation while still reducing noise. Others are made of solid material and provide maximum noise reduction.
SWIM PLUGS: Patients with either pressure equalization tubes or a hole in their eardrum benefit from the use of custom swim molds. The mold keeps water out of the middle ear space, thereby avoiding ear infections.
